May 20-23....Liberty Hospice will hold a volunteer training May 20-23.  Interested adults or teens between the ages of 14-17 are invited to attend. Make a difference in your life and theirs.  Contact Jovona Bellamy at 641-4095 for details.  Registration is required.

May 27.... The Bladen County Transfer Station will be closed Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. All other collection centers will open. The Transfer Station will resume normal operations Tuesday, May 28th.

May 30 - Rev. Clifton E. Freeman, Jr. will be ministering at For The Cause of Christ Ministry at 7:30 p.m. for Pastor Ronnie McKoy's 10th Anniversary.

THE DESCENDANTS OF SHADE & CIVIL THOMPSON & JESSE & PERCI BOYETTE THOMPSON OF BLADEN COUNTY,  WILL HOLD THEIR FAMILY REUNION ON SATURDAY, JUNE 1, 2013, AT THE BLADENBORO HISTORICAL SOCIETY BUILDING IN BLADENBORO, NORTH CAROLINA. A COVERED DISH MEAL WILL BE SERVED AT 1:00 PM . ALL DESCENDANTS, FAMILY & FRIENDS ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND AND BRING ANY PHOTOS  YOU MAY HAVE OF FAMILY PAST & PRESENT. WE HAVE FAMILY COMING FROM AS FAR AWAY AS CALIFORNIA AND WASHINGTON STATE, SO LOCALS PLEASE ATTENED. June 1....You are invited to participate in the H. W. Color Run for Fun Saturday, June 1 beginning at 9 AM at the Elizabethtown Industrial Park.  All ages are welcome to participate.  This Walk/Run will be a colorful 3.1 mile trip....White T shirts are required at the starting line...sunglasses or goggles are highly recommended....every mile marker will have volunteers ready to blast you with colored paint.....should make a multi-colored shirt by the time you complete the race...The event is sponsored by Healthworks Fitness and Wellness in Elizabethown.   A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Bladen We Care.  Go to Healthworks ad on BladenOnline and look for more info including registration forms....

June 14 & 15...The 2nd Annual West Bladen Tennis Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, June 14 & 15 at the West Bladen tennis courts.  Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events will be held and USTA rules will be applied.  Matches will be two out of three sets with all matches playing a 10 point tie-breaker instead of a full third set.  Entry fee will be $20.00 for singles and $15.00 per person for doubles.  All proceeds ill benefit the West Bladen Knights Tennis Teams.  If you have questions, you may contact Coach Jeff Atkinson at (910) 863-3055 or email jdatkinson@bladen.k12.nc.us.
