Three Things to KnowThree things to know for Monday, July 18

1. The Republican National Convention opens today in Cleveland where Donald Trump is expected to be nominated. The Democratic National Convention is later this month in Philadelphia where Hillary Clinton is the presumptive nominee. Not sure it’s “must see TV,” but you you can decide. There are channels, newspapers and Web sites that will cover each convention the way you want to see it and hear it. Not sure if unbiased coverage ever existed, but it’s no longer expected.

2. Bladen Online had 91,100 page views for the week of July 10-16 with 16,752 visits. That’s compared with 91,190 page views and 19,853 visits during the same time period a year ago. Weekly page views fluctuate quite a bit depending on events. A bit unusual to be only a 90 page view difference year-over-year. The most read story last week was Water out in Elizabethtown with 1,749 views.

3. Bladen Smart Start is having a transition event Tuesday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at its facility at 228-B West Broad Street in Elizabethtown. Lynn Vick becomes executive director, replacing interim director Dr. Margaret Lawrence. The public is invited. For information, call 910-862-3335.

And now you know.
