Three Things to KnowThree things to know for Sunday, July 17

1. Overhead on the scanner Saturday afternoon, “Caller reported a car on N.C. 87 between Tar Heel and Dublin where the people in the car are throwing eggs.” Don’t know how it turned out, and, certainly, hope no one was hurt nor any property damaged, but it’s not your normal law enforcement call. Wonder if officers scrambled to get to the scene?

2. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory has ordered U.S. and state flags on state facilities lowered to half-staff through sunset Tuesday in respect for the victims of the attack in Nice, France. The flags should remain lowered in memory of former U.S. and state Senator Robert Morgan, who died Saturday in Lillington. Sadly, it seems flags have been lowered quite a bit lately.

3. The new Dollar General located between Elizabethtown and White Lake on U.S. 701 has opened. The store will have its official opening Saturday, July 23 at 8 a.m. with free prizes and special deals. The first 50 adult shoppers that day will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card while the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag.

And now you know.
