Three things to know for Tuesday, July 19
1. Seen at the Bladen County Courthouse on Monday, a black band over the badge of some Bladen County Sheriff’s deputies. Other deputies and town police officers were probably doing the same in memory of the five police officers shot in Dallas and the three police officers shot in Baton Rouge.
2. Katie Galyean’s Presciption Drug Abuse series continues. Part 3 is The Physicians Pressure. Katie is taking a closer look at prescription drug abuse in Bladen County. Part 1 was A Pharmacist’s Struggle and Part 2 was The Addict’s Burden. Give it a read. It may open your eyes.
3. It’s time already. Applications are available for the Dublin Peanut Festival Scholarship Pageant. This year’s pageant is scheduled Sept. 10. Application deadline is Aug. 27. For information, message the pageant on its Facebook page or call Penny Perkins Britt and 910-234-6913.
