redemption

The play Redemption is scheduled to be performed on Saturday, December 17, at 6 p.m. at the Sampson County Exposition Center in Clinton. The play is written by Vanessa Richardson.
She said that there will be a special evening planned for Consuelo Oats, whose teenaged son Dae Dae, has been ill and spent 60 days as a patient at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Richardson said Dae Dae was able to return during the Thanksgiving holiday. Richardson said she met Oats recently and when she learned about her story, Richardson said she decided to invite the family to the show. She said they will be treated to dinner and following the show they will have pictures made with Tony Grant and the other cast members.
“Their story just resonated with me,” said Richardson.
Richardson said there will also be a collection box for toys, gently worn clothing, and food. She said the food and clothing and toy drive is done each year.
Richardson described the play as follows:
“The heart wants what it wants even though it may be wrong. Sometimes we make mistakes,” said Richardson.
Richardson said the play is a mystery theater. She said there are seven characters in a room and they are trying to figure out who the person is that is after a character called Danavia.
Tickets for the play can be purchased through www.eventbrite/redemptionthestageproduction. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
