1. U-Cars are in the spotlight tonight at Dublin Motor Speedway with a $400 prize awaiting the winner. Pits open at 3 p.m., grandstands at 5 and practice is set for 6:30. Qualifying and racing will follow. There also will be races in late model, open wheel modified, super street and pure stock.
2. Ever get frustrated at sporting events when play is stopped because lightning has been spotted seemingly miles away? Friday, in Great Falls, Montana, a high school football coach was knocked down when lightning struck the school’s football field. He was pushing a cart full of equipment on the field, reports the Flathead Beacon. Thankfully, the coach was not seriously hurt. Lightning is nothing to mess around with.
3. Only 9 more days until Bladen County schools begin a new academic year. The date is Aug. 24. Sorry, kids. Your welcome, parents.
