Three Things to KnowGood morning! 3 things to know for Tuesday, August 18

1. The Bladen County Animal Shelter has scheduled an adoption event Thursday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the State Employees Credit Union located on U.S. 701 near the intersection with N.C. 87 Bypass. Adoption fees will be $25 for dogs and $15 for cats. There also will be micro-chipping services for any animal for $15 and one-year rabies shots for dogs and cats for $6. For more information, call 862-6918.

2. Want to comment about the Bladen County Transportation Plan? NCDOT is seeking comments Wednesday during a drop-in session from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Elizabethtown Town Hall. No, it doesn’t sound exciting. But it can improve quality of life in communities: good roads, public transportation, bicycle lanes and better sidewalks.

3. Posted on the Elizabethtown Fire Department’s Facebook page is a sign that reads: IN CASE OF FIRE: Please leave the building before posting it on social media.” Wise advice, indeed.

And now you know.
