1. A BBQ plate sale is scheduled today to help raise money for the family of 5-month-old Eva Pait with medical expenses. It starts at 11 a.m. at Center Road Baptist Church Community Building, 2484 Center Road, in Bladenboro. Plates are $8 each. Eva, who is the daughter of Jason and Kimmi Pait, was born with a congenital heart defect and will require surgery. For more information, visit facebook.com/
2. A lightning storm resulted in the postponement Friday of East Bladen’s season opening football game at South Columbus. The Eagles and Stallions will try again tonight at 7. Weather forecast appears excellent for an evening of high school football.
3. It appears that Hurricane Danny will not head our way, although it’s still a bit early to know for sure. Next name on the list is Erika followed by Fred. Hopefully, we won’t meet either one.
