Three Things to KnowGood morning! 3 things to know for Wednesday, August 26

1. Elizabethtown’s Mighty Echoes gospel group will celebrate its 55th anniversary Sunday at the Brunswick Waccamaw Baptist Association building in Whiteville. Also scheduled to appear are Doc McKenzie and the Hi-Lites, the Goldenaires and the Swan Creek Male Chorus. Doors open at 6 p.m., program begins at 7. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. 2. A rough thunderstorm overnight. Hopefully, no damage in Bladen County, or, at least, limited damage. August has been the wettest month this year, based on readings of BladenOnline’s rain gauge located in the Cape Owen Manor subdivision near Dublin. Prior to the overnight rains, August had 6.89 inches of rain. The second wettest month was June with 6.88 inches. Driest month this year, thus far, has been July with 1.63 inches of rain measured.

3. Tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. for the appearance of Grammy award-winning, Third Day, on Nov. 20 at the Cumberland County Crown Coliseum. Tickets start at $25 and may be purchased online at CapeFearTix.com, by phone at 1-888-257-6208 and in person at the Crown Complex box office.
