The Bladen County Recreation Department in conjunction with the Grand Slam Batting Cage will sponsor a Hitting Camp on Saturday, Dec. 19. The event will be held at the Grand Slam Batting Cage located at 404 4th Street, Bladenboro.

Registration for the hitting camp is now open and the cost to attend the camp is $40 per hitter and lunch will be provided and campers will receive a hitting camp T-shirt. Registration ends on Friday, Dec. 4, and sessions are limited to 40 hitters per session.

The camp will be taught by Paul Faulk who is an area scout for the Washington Nationals and his son Tripp Faulk who is the baseball coach at Carson-Newman University.

In addition to his work as a scout for the Washington Nationals, Paul Faulk also played with the San Francisco Giants and was drafted by the Cleveland Indians. He is a member of the NC Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.

The camp will be taught in two sessions. The first session will be conducted from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for ages 7 to 10 years old. The second session will be taught from 1 until 4 p.m. for ages 11 to 14 years old.

Participants can bring with them a batting helmet and bat. Participants are asked not to bring baseball gloves or cleats.

Applications for the hitting camp are available at the Bladen County Parks and Recreation Office located at 803 West King Street, Elizabethtown.
