East Arcadia Students FDUBLIN – Bladen Community College is reaching out to encourage youth to pursue higher education with free events for students in the public schools.

The Second Annual Writing Contest for 8th Graders is underway. Students have been given a writing prompt and should respond by February 22. Winners from all middle schools in Bladen County will have their works published in The Ink Quill, the Bladen Community College literary magazine. They will also receive other gifts.

Young writers will enjoy the Creative Writing Workshop. Eighth graders and high school students interested in trying their skills at poetry writing, prose writing, or even journalism, are invited to attend a creative writing workshop at Bladen Community College on March 28, at 9 a.m. until noon. Parents will need to drop off their children and pick them up in a timely manner.

Upcoming is the Second Annual Math and Science Camp Day. Eighth graders from Bladen County middle schools will be visiting Bladen Community College on March 24, at 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. to participate in math and science hands-on activities.
