This year’s Candidates Forum sponsored by the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce held at Bladen Community College succeeded in it’s goal, by educating the voting public about the Bladen County candidates and issues. Bladen County Board of Education candidates and Bladen County Commissioner candidates were asked three questions each.

The Chamber is a non-profit, non-partisan organization. Executive Director, Dawn Maynard said she appreciated all the candidates who participated and the citizens that attended the event.

Every candidate was invited and given the list of questions being asked at the forum prior to the non-partisan event.

Board of Education candidates were asked the following question:

Do you think any schools need to be closed in Bladen County?

Do you think students with special needs are receiving what they need to be successful in the classroom?

Do you think Bladen County Schools is receiving the level of funding from Bladen County it needs?

Bladen County Commissioners candidates questions:

Do you think the Bladen County tax rate is too high, too low, or just right and what will you do to affect the rate?

Are you satisified with the level of economic growth in our county?

Do you think Bladen County is providing the level of funding to Bladen County Schools that it needs?
