The Bladen County Board of Education’s nutrition department recently received a grant for the installation of equipment at several school cafeterias.

According to Director of Child Nutrition Amy Stanley, the total grant amount is $107,096 and includes seven pieces of equipment as well as the installation of two new serving lines at East Arcadia School and Bladen Lakes Primary School.

The equipment includes a double electric oven at a cost of $5,000 for Bladen Lakes Primary School; a steamer that operates using natural gas at Tar Heel Middle School at a cost of $13,900.34; a new serving line at Bladen Lakes School at a cost of $23,959; a new serving at East Arcadia School at a cost of $22,036; a steamer that operates on natural gas for Clarkton School of Discovery at a cost of $13,900.34;  a steamer that operates on natural gas for West Bladen High School at a cost of $13,900.34; and a steamer that operates on LP gas for East Bladen high School at a cost of $13,900.34.

Stanley said the equipment has been installed and is now in use.
