FAYETTEVILLE – Cape Fear Valley Health has been recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® in six treatment areas by The Joint Commission. This is the second year in a row the health system has been recognized.
The recognized areas were for Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Surgical Care, Stroke and Perinatal Care. The awards were announced in the commission’s recently released 2015 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety.”
Cape Fear Valley Health was also named a Top Performer for Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia and Surgical Care last year. The Stroke and Perinatal Care are new recognitions this year.
The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based care, which increases the likelihood patients have good outcomes. Top Performers achieve a 95 percent or above for all reported accountability measures.
“Cape Fear Valley is focused on patient safety and quality care,” CEO Mike Nagowski said. “These awards from The Joint Commission validate that commitment. We are very proud to have been recognized as a Top Performer in so many areas.”
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 20,500 healthcare organizations and programs across the U.S. Their certification is a nationally recognized symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance requirements.
