The Bladen County Board of Commissioners met on Monday night and Bladen County 4Her Clinton Rickley led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

County Commissioners Chairman Russell Priest stood and said, “A lot happened after the hurricane….the response was so organized it was unreal.”

Priest said he would attempt to call names but feared leaving someone out.

Priest noted that there were many first responders and law enforcement officers who responded from as far away as mountains to offer their assistance.

Priest praised Bladen County Schools for a “phenomenal job” with the shelters.

Commissioner Jimmie Smith said, “I was down in Rowan and Kelly. It’s a pitiful situation.”

Bladen County Manager Greg Martin praised all of the EMS, public safety officials, human services staff for their response to the storm.

Martin said there are citizens very much affected  by this flooding.

Commissioner Charles Ray Peterson said county employees worked 24 hours.

Peterson said that Brunswick County Sheriff Office brought a helicopter and boats to Bladen County to help.

Peterson described the county as in a recovery stage.

Commissioner Arthur Bullock thanked the County for allowing Elizabethtown Rescue Squad the use of a county building at the Elizabeth Industrial Park after their own building was flooded.

Bladenboro Rotary Club will ha e a Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, October 29, 2016.  The time is 7 – 9 am at the Bladenboro Historical Building.
