The sun was shining and the breeze was nice yesterday for the Bladenboro Fun Day held at the Historical Building. All proceeds were to help a young Bladen County resident and his family with his medical expenses. There were hundreds of great people that came out to show their support, have fun and give money for a great cause. There was over $28,000 donated for the family according to Charles Ray Peterson, one of the event organizers.

The pork and turkey were absolutely delicious. The Lu Mil Slushies hit just the right spot. The children played on the bounce houses from Bounce Brothers, they had their faces painted, learned how to put out a fire from the Bladenboro Fire Department, they rode on the Trax train and had a lot of fun.

All who attended enjoyed the festivities. Potty Patrol, famous for raising a lot of money for Bladen County Relay for Life came out and gave everyone the chance to dunk some of our local favorites. The entertainment started at 10 AM and continued throughout the day always bringing a smile to everyone’s face. There was so much to do the time flew by. The day ended with an auction, dinner and the Dove Brothers and David Hester’s concert at Galeed Baptist Church.

Today, there was so much effort given from a community coming together to wrap their arms around a family in a time of need. It was beautiful. There are other fundraisers still active for this family. To find out more on their Go Fund Me page at http://www.gofundme.com/w6hexc
