The town of Dublin has received a $15,000 grant for the creation of an asset management plan for the town’s wastewater system. The grant is a State Reserve Asset Inventory and Assessment (AIA) grant that was approved by State Water Infrastructure Authority.

Mayor Horace Wyatt said the town will be working with Withers and Ravenel, an engineering company contracted by the town, to determine what steps to take next. He said that the creation of the asset management plan will be similar to developing a mapping system in that it will show what size, and what type of water and sewer lines the town has and where the water and sewer lines are located.

Mayor Wyatt said that when applying for a grant, the asset management plan helps in terms of knowing exactly how much water or sewer line you need to replace and what type of line you may need.

Mayor Wyatt also noted that by having an asset management plan, when the town applies for grants, the grant application will receive more points. He explained that grant applications are awarded points and those points are tallied and used to determine whether or not a project may meet the criteria to be funded.
