Together Lieutenant General Joe Anderson, Commanding General, of the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, and Mayor Sylvia Campbell committed to building a strong community by signing the Army Community Covenant today at Elizabethtown Town Hall.

Mayor Campbell welcomed Lieutenant General Anderson and his team members by saying, “I want to officially welcome you to Elizabethtown and tell you what an honor it is to have you here and to give us the opportunity to partner with you. We have a very patriotic community.”

General Anderson responded, “Our soldiers are coming out here, active and retirees, and taking advantage of the recreation you have here.” General Anderson visited Bladen County last week and noticed the race track and all the extracurricular activities Bladen County offers.

The covenant signed today officially devotes our community to recognize the commitment soldiers and their families are making every day, the strength of soldiers that comes from their families, strength of families that are supported by the strength of the communities, and the strength of communities, which comes from the support of Employers, Educators, Civic and Business Leaders and it’s other citizens. Our community is now dedicated to building partnerships that support the strength, resilience, and readiness of Soldiers and their Families.

After signing the covenant Mayor Campbell said, “We can’t thank you enough and we are very committed to helping you in any way we can.”
