pittsylvania_county_virginia_sealFormer Elizabethtown Town Manager David Smitherman will be taking over the reins in Pittsylvania County, Virginia as he assumes the role of administrator. His first day on the job is Thursday, December 1.

Smitherman has also served as interim county manger for Onslow and Hyde counties in North Carolina and served as County Manger for Lee County. He has also worked as a consultant for Bear Strategies. Bear Strategies is a consulting firm that works with governing bodies on such matters as governmental relations, project management and other things.

The county is planning a public meet and greet for Smitherman on December 5 at the Pittsylvania County, Virginia administration building. No time has been announced.

He and his family have plans to relocate to Pittsylvania County from Winston-Salem once the academic year is completed.
