Don't be surprised Matthew, Bruce is a believer in the literal, inerrant, word of God, as expressed in the Holy Scriptures...... unless of course it does not fit his agenda.

Bruce

We certainly have two different points of view on the decline of church membership.

I say that leadership like yourself needs to make a change. While you basically say that this is a good thing and the end of the world is coming?

You cease to amaze me. Why would I ever be surprised?

Previous poster makes a good point: Church attendance among mainline denominations is down. Check this out:
The Southern Baptist Convention; 16,266,920 members; down 0.24 percent. The United Methodist Church; 7,931,733 members; down 0.80 percent. The Presbyterian Church (USA); 2,941,412 members; down 2.79 percent.

But yet, this is fulfilling eschatological prophecy. II Thessalonians 2:2 ".... the day of Christ is at hand. 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." This is the falling away. Church attendance is in decline. The Bible teaches that as Christ is returning "iniquity shall abound" (Matthew 24:12)

I pray everyone reading these posts know Christ as personal Savior. What a glorious weekend when we can celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord. Happy Easter!

Wesley this is a good point.

Southern baptists are the second largest Christian group in the United States according to Wikipedia.

But, my opinion is that issues like this alcohol one and other wedge issues do nothing to help the membership numbers. Southern baptists membership has been on the decline for a few years now.

Former SBC president Frank Page declared that if current conditions continue, half of all SBC churches will close their doors permanently by the year 2030.

Maybe guys like GC and Bruce need another strategy?

Jimmy - Yea they could be doing it that way. Will the Real GC please Stand Up?? If this is the case, then it certainly qualifies as a "Dirty Trick". and I thought they claimed to represent the Churches??

Did you know that there are approximately 40,000 different denominations of Christianity around the world?

Jimmy - Now that would be a heck of a "Revelation". I am sure Robert Hester has a means of checking IP addresses - if they are not originating from Bladenboro or even if there are multiple IP addresses it would add to your and my suspicions.
