Summer Camp card with sky backgroundThis summer, kids in Bladen County will have a new way to beat the heat.

Starting June 21 and going through the week of August 2, Healthworks in Elizabethtown will be offering a new summer day camp called, ‘Kidz Camp Craze.’ It will run Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Activities will include open swim time, cross fit, yoga, visits from sunset slush and more.

The camp will be open to the general public, not just gym members. The cost is $15 per child, per day. If siblings come, the first child will be $15 and each following child will be $10. Snacks are included. The center needs to know by Monday of every week if your child plans to attend that week. You can contact Healthworks at 910-862-6533.

The camp will take place both indoors and outdoors depending on the whether. Owner of Healthworks, Ashley Trivette, said, “It’s not just rain that will keep us indoors. If it gets too hot, we will stay indoors. The safety of the kids will be a priority.”

Trivette also said the camp has already had a great response. “I posted an advertisement for it on my Facebook page and just within 24 hours I already 33 calls from people wanting more information.”

“I feel like Bladen County is so special and we don’t have a long term camp like this as far as I know,” said Trivette. Trivette said that she really wants the kids to come in and discover a joy for moving around and being active. “That is what this is all about. I just want to treat these kids really well and show them how fun and important being active is.”
