Sheriff James A. McVicker announced today the arrest of Rayfeus Levell Miller, 28, of 219 Pea Landing Road, Ash, NC. Miller was arrested after a vehicle he was riding in approached a license checking station being conducted in Bladenboro by members of the Bladenboro Police Department and the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

“As the vehicle Miller was riding in pulled up to the license check officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” said McVicker. “At almost the same time Deputy Tremain Harvey saw Miller throw a small plastic bag out of the vehicle. Deputy Harvey retrieved the bag and found it to contain powdered cocaine.”

Sheriff McVicker said Miller and two other occupants of the vehicle were removed and Miller was found to be in possession of prescription pills (Percocet and Zanax).

Miller was charged with Trafficking Opium (Percocet and cocaine), Simple Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance (Zanax) and Simple Possession of Schedule VI Controlled Substance (Marijuana).

“Officers also found and seized approximately $20,000.00 in US Currency after no one in the vehicle would claim the money,” McVicker added. “This is just another example of two agencies working together to get drugs and criminals off our streets. Bladenboro officers and my deputies routinely work together and I consider them to be a valuable ally in our quest to keep this county and our citizens safe.

Miller is currently in Bladen County Jail under a $105,000.00 secured bond.
