West Bladen To Host Second Round Game
Wednesday Coach Travis Pait
confirmed this morning that his West Bladen
Knights will host a Second Round NCHSAA Class
2-A Play-off game Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Knights will host the winner of tonight's
Pittsboro Northwood/Granville Central game. That
game was postponed Monday due to Granville
County not having school due to the snow in the
area. The confusion over the site was
due to some incorrect records being reported to
the NCHSAA. The error was not made by either
West Bladen or Northwood and was actually
brought to the Knights attention by Northwood.
If Northwood wins Tuesday, Wednesday's
game will be a rematch of last year's Eastern
Regional Semi-Final that Northwood won 53-51.

Play-off Seeding Unkind To Bladen
Teams Bladen County basketball
teams, fans and coaches were not happy with the
NCHSAA play-off pairings that were released
Saturday. This was the first year that the
NCHSAA has attempted to seed the basketball
play-offs. Among the complaints were
not knowing whether their team would be in the
East or the Mid-East, the fact that strength of
schedule did not figure into the seeding, nor
did any of the conference tournament results
from this week. West Bladen Coach
Travis Pait pointed out that he and his staff
had driven all over the Eastern part of the
state scouting the last two weeks only to have
his Knights placed in the Mid-East against teams
that he had not scouted. "We wasted a lot of
gas," he said. "It would have helped to at least
have known that we were going to be in the
Mid-East."

North Carolina High School athletics, is
reporting "the Realignment Committee, consisting
of superintendents, principals, athletic
directors and coaches and ex officio members,

emails from schools and school systems, and
conversations school officials had with various
members of the committee as they deliberated
about the next steps." "The deadline for
schools to respond in writing about this draft
is March 1, 2012. Letters should be sent
only if there is a concern about conference
placement, and the letter should contain a
solution to the concern that does not leave any
schools out. Schools should express a
