Sportscaster thinks this could be Monster Season for Bryant

Vic Carucci, senior editor for clevelandbrowns.com  is predicting a monster season for defensive tackle Desmond Bryant.  Quoting the veteran sportscaster, "Desmond Bryant should be posed to have a monster season.  Bryant was on his way to having a strong year in 2013, but then he developed an irregular heartbeat that required a medical procedure that ended his season prematurely.  Bryant has fully recovered, and demonstrated in the off season that his ready to get back to his early season form of '13.  When healthy, he routinely overpowers blockers with immense strength to go along with an extremely quick first step.  He also has tremendous versatility and can be utilized in a variety of spots along the line, which fits perfectly with the multiple looks that Mike Pettine's defense will show."

Johnson continues hot hitting streak for Indians.

Saquan Johnson had a big night at the plate to lead the Spokane Indians to a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canadians Monday night.  His last hit of the night put the game away in the eighth inning.  It was a two-RBI single between first and second with the bases loaded.

Johnson, a former East Bladen Eagle, was 3 for 4 for the game in front of 5,031 fans.  Johnson has been batting at a .333 clip for the past 10 games.  He has collected 10 hits and has seven RBI's in the span.

Dixie Pre-Majors World Series: Southwest Arkansas 3, West Bladen 2

CHIPLEY, Fla. -- "If" can often be the cruelest of words.

For the West Bladen baseball team, "if" line drives hadn't been hit directly at fielders, "if" a play had been executed properly instead of turned into a double play, "if" a ball could have snuck through the infield at an opportune time, and "if" a runner hadn't been ruled out after sliding past second base to end the game, then the Knights may have advanced in the Dixie Pre-Majors World Series.

However, it was Southwest Arkansas advancing Monday with a 3-2 win in an elimination game played at Chipley High School. The Knights were sent home having won once in three games.

Kayla Thompson wins Sea Hawk Classic
by Marsha Burney

The first time Kayla Thompson played a round of golf, she wasn’t really interested in the game at all. She was 12 years old, and her little brother Brandon (nine at the time) decided he wanted to try his hand at the game. Since their dad enjoyed golfing, he asked if Kayla wanted to go along to play with him and Brandon. Kayla said she told her dad she’d go and play – but only if he’d let her drive the golf cart.

Now 18, Kayla won the Sea Hawk Classic at Country Club of Landfall Tournament on Tuesday of this week. The tournament was slated to be a 36-hole match on Monday and Tuesday, but the rain cut it to only 18 holes played on Tuesday.
