The sounds of Christmas music mixed with the twinkling and dancing of lights in a dazzling display of holiday merriment has become a favorite holiday event for Bladen County. The staff at LuMil Vineyard is gearing up for the 9th annual Christmas Light Show which is slated to begin on Nov. 26 and Nov. 27 from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m.

The light show will continue on Thursday through Sunday, Dec. 1 – 4 and Dec. 8 – 11 from 6 until 10- p.m. On Thursday, Dec. 15, continuing through Friday, Dec 23, the show will take place nightly from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. Cost for the light show is $6 person with a maximum of $60 per vehicle (vans and buses).

You can also rent the double decker bus for $6 per person with a minimum of 20 people. Bus reservations require 48-hours notice. You can call 910-862-1603 for more information about renting the bus.

Ron Taylor said that this year’s light show will be “bigger and better than ever.”

“We’ve added a couple hundred thousand lights and about 20 more ornaments,” said Ron Taylor.

He said that Hurricane Matthew did cause some damage at the vineyard. Taylor said the storm washed out roads that traverse through the vineyard and the roof blew off of one building. He said crews have been hard at work repairing the damaged roads and the damaged roof has also been repaired.

Taylor said with repairs having been completed, crews are now focusing on decorating and getting everything ready for the many guests who will travel through LuMil to view the Christmas light show.

In addition to the light show, LuMil will also offer a country buffet which will be served from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. The buffet costs $11 per person plus sales tax, said Taylor.

Santa will also be in attendance. You can have your picture taken with Santa at no charge and Taylor said don’t forget to visit the Candy Shop.

“It is stocked with old fashioned candy you can’t get just anywhere. We have a big selection (of candy),” said Taylor.

LuMil Vineyard is also a Toys for Tots drop off location this year. You can bring a new, unwrapped toy and place it in the box as a Christmas gift for children who are less fortunate. The vineyard also offers wine tastings and the gift shop is open daily.
