16-year-old arrested on attempted
murder charges By Rhonda Griffin
A 16-year-old White Oak man is being
held in the Bladen County Jail under a
$1,026,000 secured bond after shooting into
a residence on Jan. 7, Capt. Rodney Hester
of the Bladen County Sheriff's Office said
Wednesday morning. Rodriquez Deion
McNeil of 2054 Tar Heel Ferry Road was
charged with attempted first-degree murder
and injury to real property. According to
reports, the owner of the home called 911
after hearing gunshots outside in the yard,
but the shooter could not be located when
deputies arrived. The following morning, the
homeowner realized that the residence had
been shot several times and deputies were
dispatched once again to the home, Hester
said. Investigation into the case
found McNeil to be the suspect in the
shooting and warrants were obtained for his
arrest, Hester said. The young man was
reportedly upset with a suspect who resided
at the residence, he said. McNeil
was taken into custody on Jan. 29 after he
and a 15-year-old minor allegedly broke into
a hunting lodge in the White Oak community
and took several weapons and a television
after gaining entry into the building,
according to reports. Witnesses saw the two
suspects and called authorities, and both
were taken into custody. McNeil was
charged with breaking and entering; larceny
after breaking and entering; possession of
stolen property; and injury to real property
in the case of the break in, along with the
previous charges from the shooting, Hester
said. The juvenile was charged with a
juvenile petition, he said.
