The James Daniel Pait-Paite-Pate family reunion was
to be held at the Center Road Baptist Church
Recreation Center.
John D. Mercer of Bladenboro
retired as a rural mail carrier after 44 years of
delivering mail.
The 1965 class of Bladen Central High School
held their 20th class reunion.
Spec. 4 Donald Wayne of
Elizabethtown was decorated with the Army
Achievement Medal at Fort Bragg.
Clarkton citizens voted 164-7
to approve a $150,000 sewer bond.
Winfred Johnson of Elizabethtown was named 3rd
team All-American baseball player at East Carolina
University. Johnson, a pitcher-first
baseman-designated hitter, batted .432 with 73 hits,
75 runs batted in, and 22 home runs. Johnson had 150
total bases. All of these were East Carolina
records.
