1. It’s Football Friday and the first round of the high school state playoffs. Both Bladen County teams qualified. East Bladen hosts Graham and West Bladen plays at Kinston. Bladen Online will cover both games. Kickoffs are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. We’ll have live tweets from the game @BladenOnline to keep you updated. Also, the Bladen Sports Network will broadcast the East Bladen game on WODR 105.3 FM or online at coolbeach1053.com withe the pregame show to begin at 7 p.m.
2. The Bladenboro Fire Department will show off its new fire station Saturday. The ribbon cutting is set for 10 a.m. The open house continues until 3 p.m. Chief Jackie Coleman and his team want to see you there. The station is on Seaboard Street.
3. Veterans in and around Bladen County can enroll in the VA health care system and receive health information about various services available to them from representatives of the Fayetteville VA Medical Center Rural Health Outreach team Saturday at Pleasant Union Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 1437 East Arcadia Road, Riegelwood. The “Veterans Breakfast and Health Benefits Seminar” begins at 9 a.m. and lasts until 11:30 a.m.
