Sheriff James A. McVicker announced the successful completion of an undercover narcotics investigation that ended in warrants for 14 different individuals.
McVicker said members of the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted a three month undercover investigation that targeted the sale and delivery of prescription pills, cocaine, and marijuana in the county. The operation, known as Summertime Shakedown, entailed many hours of surveillance and numerous undercover purchases by agents.
Eleven of the 14 suspects were arrested last week. Three suspects have not been located but their arrests are anticipated in the near future.
“We are committed to making the trade in illegal narcotics as difficult as we can in the county,” said McVicker. “This crime not only hurts those addicted to these drugs, but it hurts their families and the community. We all pay a price for illegal drugs in our county.”
