Bladen County residents are reporting encounters with someone claiming to represent Kirby Vacuum on Monday. The residents described the vehicle as a blue-green Toyota car with Florida license plates occupied by three women and one male.

A resident said the group claimed they were selling Kirby Vacuums and giving away a free box of Tide laundry detergent to anyone who signed up.

This is not the first time Bladen County residents have reported encounters with someone claiming to represent the Kirby Vacuum company. In 2015, Bladen County residents were complaining about encounters with someone going door-to-door as late as 9 p.m. claiming to sell Kirby Vacuum cleaners.

A telephone number listed for Kirby Vacuum in Wilmington stated the telephone number is not a working number.

If you have concerns about suspicious activity in your area, collect as much information about the incident as possible, contact your local law enforcement agency, and then file a report with The Kirby Company’s corporate office at 800-494-8586 and the North Carolina Attorney General, Department of Justice, at 9001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-9001.
