The community helped Pawn South celebrate their new location with a ribbon cutting today.  Mayor Rufus Duckworth, members of Boost the Boro, and other community members gathered around Pawn South owners, Kenny Barnes and Monte Powell, to cut the ribbon.

“This building is part of our family heritage and it is great to see it restored.” Jon Hasborck said. Mayor Duckworth reminded everyone that the building located at 100 Railroad Street in Bladenboro, that Pawn South now occupies was once in jeopardy of becoming dilapidated.  He said, “Boost the Boro helped save the building and then you all (Pawn South Owners) stepped in, purchased the building and restored the building. With the money we made from the sale of the building we were able to build the Farmer’s Market here in town. So, you all have really helped Bladenboro a lot and we thank you.”

Owner Kenny Barnes said, “We are honored to have a business in this building. The Boost of Boro folk and the Bladenboro community have helped us out.” He then invited everyone in for refreshments. The store now has plenty of space for all their merchandise in a beautiful setting. You may find fire arms, jewelry, tools, electronics, and so much more at the location in Bladenboro.

Pawn South, Inc. started in Chadbourn in 1989 as City Pawn and Guns and and grew by operating a store in Elizabethtown in 1993.
