National Weather ServiceWhile many folks are preparing for Super Bowl Sunday, forecasters are keeping a wary eye on Sunday’s weather. The National Weather Service is watching a strengthening storm system off the coast that could potentially bring a chance of accumulating snow for some areas on Sunday.

Meterologist Steven Pfaff said, “The probability for accumulating one inch or more of snowfall has increased across the area.”

As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service office in Wilmington says it is still too early to tell which areas will be impacted or how much, if any, snow may accumulate. Currently, the forecast is for rain mixed to snow occurring over the eastern Carolinas Sunday.

Saturday’s forecast, however, is for increasing clouds with a high near 52 degrees.
