We heard our readers asking about Bladen County School’s performance for the last school year. Our staff thought we found the answers, but the grades we found were off due to the change in the grading system.

We have found the correct information on the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s website thanks to the guidance of Bladen County Schools Public Relations representative Mrs. Valarie Newton.

Out of the thirteen (13) Bladen County Schools, three schools exceeded the Education Value-Added Assessment System (EVAAS) Growth Status, six schools met EVAAS Growth Status, and four schools have not met the EVAAS Growth Status.  Below is a table showing the Bladen County School’s School Performance Grades, Scores and their EVAAS Scores.

Bladen County Schools on the NCDPI’s low performing schools list for the 2015 – 2016 year, according to the DPI website, were as follows: Bladenboro Middle School, Bladenboro Primary, Bladen Lakes Primary, East Bladen High School, and East Arcadia Elementary. Each local school on the low performing list received a grade of a D except for East Arcadia Elementary’s F grade.
