Good morning! 3 things to know for Thursday, September 10
1. Who’s ready to swim 1.2 miles, ride a bicycle 56 miles, then run 13.1 miles starting at 7 a.m. Saturday? If that’s for you, then the FFA camp at White Lake is the place to be for the White Lake Fall 2015 triathlon. Also Saturday at 8:30 a.m., there will be a race consisting of a 1,500 meter swim, a 45 kilometer bike ride, and a 10 kilometer run. On Sunday, there’s a 750 meter run, 14 mile bike ride and 5 kilometer run. Piece of cake.
2. The Bladen County Training School/Bladen Central High School Alumni Association’s 33rd annual awards banquet is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Paul R. Brown Building in Elizabethtown. Speaker will be Dr. Teressa McKoy Watts of Charlotte, who is a 1985 graduate of East Bladen High School. Admission is $20. The public is invited. 3. How would you like to live in Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? It’s a village in North Wales. In English, it’s said to translate to “St. Mary’s Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio near the red cave.” And, no, not sure how how to pronounce it.
