1. It’s Football Friday and Bladen Online will have it covered with reporters at West Bladen to cover the Knights host Whiteville, and at St. Pauls to follow the East Bladen Eagles. Kickoffs are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. We’ll have live tweets from each game @BladenOnline. Also, the Bladen Sports Network will broadcast the West Bladen game on WODR 105.3 FM or online at coolbeach1053.com. Both the Eagles and the Knights will be seeking their third straight victory.
2. Jones Lake State Park is offering a viewing of an installment of “Planet Earth” on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Visitor Center. Bring the family, chairs, popcorn, and drinks to the free show. For information, call Ranger John Privette at 910 588-4550.
3. It’s Labor Day weekend — or it will be after work or school today. Got any plans? A swim in White Lake or some miniature golf, arcade games, rides and water slides sound like a plan as the summer season winds down.
