Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love

Today, we in Bladen County and North Carolina begin a new election for leaders of our county, state and nation.  If all begins with the filing for political offices at the county, state and national level.

If you have a better plan about how to do ‘our’ business at any level, filing begins at high noon (12 PM) at the Bladen County Board of Elections.

Place your name on the ballot, travel the area, tell your story and see how voters react.  If you receive the most votes, you have a seat at the table, where decisions are made about how Bladen County will spend about $40 million annually.  Strings are attached to some dollars, state and federal.

I love the election process.  Been there, done that, enjoyed the experience, have no desire for another day.

Filing fees are determined by the salary of the office you seek.  Think it is like 1%.  The folks at the Board of Elections will provide the info.  Stop by their office behind the Elizabethtown Post Office or call 910-862-6951.

Good public servants are needed.  No experience required, on the job training for winners.  And, the public will judge your performance.

“If cigarettes keep going up in price, I’m going to quit.  A quarter a pack is ridiculous.”

“I never thought I’d see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric.  They are even making electric typewriters now.”

“It won’t be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.”
