Ever wonder how we, as a nation, arrived where we are today in our effort to elect a new president? With negative ratings for Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton (near or over 50 percent). Could be more folks voting ‘against’ than ‘for.’
David Duke had the strongest unfavorable ratings ever prior to this campaign. Trump is next with Clinton not far behind.
If Trump and Clinton turn you off, check the Libertarian and Green Party candidates. Then for the next four years you can proclaim…I did not vote for whoever the winner is.
With that in mind, and all the accusations being ‘tossed’ around, I discovered an interesting website, if you are looking for “trashy” folks. Google ‘List of Federal Political Scandals in the US’ and click on Wikipedia. The list is long and interesting, some scandals I had never heard of, many by elected officials and neither party was spared.
Investors will keep an eye on the economy over the next few days, weeks and months. If you have $’s in the stock market, even a 401k or another similar retirement package, you should stay tuned. The British people voted to withdraw from the European Union, and the markets do not like drastic change.
Remember when it was not uncommon to see a sawmill just about any place in the county? Small sawmills that were moved from one timber site to another, and others that remained in the same place for years. I remember hearing about the Butters sawmill, Green Brothers Mill and another near the corner of MLK and Swanzy street in Elizabethtown. Sanderlin-Maultsby Lumber Co. and Hester Lumber Co in the Rosindale area, numerous in the Bladenboro and White Oak area, in fact, all over the county, should have never begun listing. Today, few if any sawmills.
Now, 18-wheelers move the timber to big, big sawmills.
