blackwater-logoThe Black Water Rhythm & Blues Band, of Clarkton, has risen to the top of the Charts for their single, “Dance Tonight”, the Southern Soul hit. BladenOnline met with Dale Edwards, who founded the band in September of 2009, and found out that their first CD is being cut, (due out in November) which will feature 6 different genres of music, Blues, Island, Beach, Country, Gospel, and Southern Soul. The CD is being produced by KHP Music, in Dunn.

Black Water is on schedule to play a total of 108 shows in 2015, you may have heard them recently at the Summer Sounds Concert, which was held at the Elizabethtown Farmer’s Market, in August. “We try not to be like every other band,” said Edwards, “We try to sell fun.” The band’s next gig is at the Cypress Bend Winery, in Wagrum, this Friday night, September 4th.

The Black Water Rhythm & Blues Band plays 20 to 25 times a year at Duck’s in North Myrtle Beach, SC and many other venues up and down the East Coast. “We are not just Beach music,” says Edwards, “We try to play something for everybody.” Black Water has Edwards on trombone and Vocals; Donald Jordan, on Guitar and Vocals; Greg Elkins, on Trumpet, Trombone, Keyboards, and Vocals; William Sellers, on Keyboard and Vocals; Kendrix Singletary, is the Lead Vocalist; Billy Little, on Saxophone and Vocals; Billy Prease, on Drums; Neill Singletary, on Bass Guitar; and Fred Cook, on Saxophone. Eddie Cogle is the band’s Sound Engineer. Edwards, and his band-mates must be doing it right because they have never had to call to ask for a show, but they try to play all the shows they are asked to play.

Radio station, 94.9 has had “Dance Tonight” at the number 1 spot for the last 5 weeks, and Cashbox has had it at #1 for 2 weeks. You’ve gotta love it when your home town boys do good. Some of the best things in life come from Bladen County. For more about the band and their schedule visit their website or their Facebook page.
