According to Pilar Hernandez, a resident effected by the issue, there are about 12 families trapped without a way to get to school or work from their homes due to roads still being flooded.

“Our homes are ok, but the road is flooded and we don’t  have a way to get to work or school.” said Hernandez.

Hernandez said they have reached out to some officials, but are still waiting for returned phone calls.

The biggest issue is the two roads giving access to towns are flooded according to Hernandez. The two roads blocking the residents are Community Road and Sunshine Road in White Oak.

The depth of the water has receded about two inches, but is still deep and not safe to drive across. The residents are unsure of the ownership of the roads, but would like anyone who may be able to assist with removing the water to contact them. Pilar Hernandez may be reached at 910-866-6887 or 910-874-7070.
