MajesticeditedMajestic Funeral Home in Elizabethtown is happy to welcome Maurice Williams to their staff.

Williams said that his interest in the funeral home began when he first met owner Eric Matthews. He said Matthews was always coming by William’s store, Whimsical Florist.

“One day he said he needed a florist to do flowers for the funeral home,” said Williams.

He said they spoke some more and then Matthews left the shop. Williams said he stopped by the funeral home, which is located in the former Kinlaw Funeral Home building, at 114 Pine Street in Elizabethtown. Williams said he was familiar with the facility when it was Kinlaw Funeral Home and was impressed with the upgrades Matthews had made.

Williams said the more he and Matthews talked and the more they were around each other, his interest in Majestic Funeral Home grew.

“I went to some of the funerals (directed by Majestic) and saw what a great job Majestic does,” said Williams. “When you can put a smile on a grieving person’s face, then you have done a day’s work.”

Matthews said that he was impressed with Williams’ attention to detail with the flowers. Matthews said Williams didn’t just deliver the flowers for a particular service and leave. He said Williams would place the flowers in the designated room in the funeral home and look them over and make any necessary adjustments before he left the funeral home.

The rest, as they say is history.

“We’re thankful Maurice has come on board. We value his knowledge and his passion and compassion,” said Matthews.

Williams will be assisting the funeral home with such things as removals, visitation, funeral ceremonies, flowers, and delivering home equipment i.e. chairs door markers and such, and operations of the funeral home when he is not occupied with the florist.

“I’ll be making sure everything is perfect for the family,” said Williams.

Matthews’ own eye for detail is evident with the renovations that have been made to the funeral home including a fresh coat of paint.

Majestic Funeral Home offers their clients a fully licensed, board certified professional funeral director; tribute boards; funeral ceremonies; customized services; cremation services;   headstones; and flowers for all occasions.  He said Majestic also offers Special Circumstances Services where an extremely large attendance is expected. Majestic also offers services for the military and government officials. Matthews said all of the services come with affordable pricing.

“We serve everybody. We want the people of Bladen County and southeastern North Carolina to have options (for funeral services),” said Matthews.

When asked how the name Majestic Funeral Home came about, Matthews said that he and his wife, Terri, were brainstorming for names. Matthews said he wanted a name that would reflect the type of services people could expect.

“My wife actually came up with it,” said Matthews.

The definition of Majestic according to the dictionary means characterized by or possessing majesty; of lofty dignity or imposing aspect; stately; grand.

“We’re here to help everyone from the first call until long after the service,” said Matthews.
