From February 9-11, 1973 one of the most intense snowstorms on record struck the Southeastern United States. When it was over 24 inches of snow was recorded in Rimini, SC, with widespread 12-18 inch accumulations extending from southern Alabama into eastern North Carolina.
I’ve put together a summary of the storm including accumulation maps and news stories, plus a rare look at ATS-3 visible satellite photos!

This was the largest snowstorm on record for Florence, SC, and the second largest for Wilmington and Myrtle Beach behind the 1989 Christmas snow.
