This Saturday, February 27th, the Dublin Peanut Festival committee will host its 3rd Annual “All You Can Eat” Oyster Roast and Fish Fry. The event will be held at Lu Mil Vineyard in The General Store and will run from 11 AM until 5 PM. The meal will consist of Steamed Oysters, Fried Fish (Whiting Fillets), slaw, hush puppies, dessert and tea or water. The event is held each year to help with the expenses of the Festival and an annual scholarship.
Each year the committee gives a $2,000.00 Scholarship to a graduating senior at West Bladen High School who will be attending Bladen Community College. The third Saturday in September of each year the committee gears up again for the annual Dublin Peanut Festival. The proceeds of these 2 events have allowed the committee to help with numerous worthwhile causes throughout the county. Last year’s proceeds from the oyster roast netted around $2,500.00. The goal this year is to surpass that figure to enable the committee to continue to contribute to the scholarship fund and the many needs of Bladen County.
