Three Things to KnowGood morning! 3 things to know for Monday, August 31

1. Erika may no longer be a hurricane nor a tropical storm. However, it still may bring an inch or more of rain to Bladen County through Tuesday morning. And, just for good measure, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on Fred as it heads for the Cape Verde Islands.

2. On this date in 2006, Tropical Storm Ernesto brought torrential rainfall and gusty winds as the storm approached southeastern North Carolina, according to National Weather Service records. Wilmington received 9.56 inches of rain on Aug. 31. We won’t have a repeat of that, thankfully.

3. Mark your calendar. The “Cry Out America” rally in Bladen County is scheduled Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in Elizabethtown. Rallies are held nationwide to remember the terrorist attacks in 2001 and offer a renewed call for a spiritual awakening in America. Rallies are sponsored by Awakening America Alliance, a network of evangelical, Pentecostal and Charismatic ministries.

And now you know.
