DUBLIN – Senior Trent West pitched 6 strong innings and drove in 2 runs to lead West Bladen to a 5-3 Four County Conference baseball victory over Wallace-Rose Hill Wednesday night.

Trent West struck out six and allowed only 3 hits and 3 runs – one earned run — to get the win. Junior Trey Storms pitched out of a bases-loaded jam in the seventh inning to get the save, striking out two while giving up a hit and a walk.

The Knights scored in the first inning as senior Weston Pidgeon cracked a lead-off single, stole second base and sprinted home when Trent West deposited a single into centerfield.

The Bulldogs pulled even in the third inning on Jacob Teachey’s run-scoring single.

West Bladen erupted for 4 runs in the fourth inning. Freshman Logan West hammered a double to the fence in leftfield, and freshman catcher Jake Butler walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch.

Senior Hunter Pait smacked a single to rightfield that scored Logan West, and Ian Sykes, the courtesy runner for Butler, scored on a wild pitch. Senior T. J. Guyton beat out an infield hit, and another infield hit by Jarrett Williams plated Pait. Trent West ripped a single to leftfield that scored Guyton for a 5-1 lead.

A walk, a single and a 2-out error produced a pair of unearned runs for Wallace-Rose Hill that sliced the margin to 5-3 in the sixth inning.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the seventh on a walk, a Teachey double and an error before Pidgeon reeled in a pop-up to end the game.

Trent West batted 2-3 with the 2 runs batted in. Logan West finished 2-4 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Pidgeon, Pait, Guyton and Williams connected for one hit each. Williams and Pait had one rbi each, and Pidgeon, Sykes, Pait and Guyton scored runs.

It was the sixth straight win for the Knights who sit atop the Four County standings with a 4-0 record and 6-3 overall mark.

“We have won 6 in a row and my socks are starting to stink, but that’s alright,” said Knight Coach Kim Cain who has worn the same pair of unwashed socks on gameday during the winning streak. West Bladen will host Clinton Friday night at 7:00.
