bulldog-and-beast-of-bladenboroBladenboro Middle School had several interesting visitors on Wednesday this week. Shane Todd from Boost the Boro, Inc, Orlando de Guzman, a director from UNC-TV and PBS, Bladenboro Police Chief, Chris Hunt, and the Bladenboro Beast on fascinated the students and staff.
The audience heard about the 10th annual Beast Fest scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28th and 29th. Todd featured a video of the festival’s founder, Hiram Hester, describing the Beast of Bladenboro.
During the visit the Beast of Bladenboro wiggled free from the Police Chief, but was taken down by the school’s bulldog mascot, Harry.
Megan, a great niece of Hiram Hester is a student at the middle school and was in attendance. Megan said she has been to every Beast Fest since it started 10 years ago. When we asked her what she thought her late uncle would think about the growth of the festival, she said, “I think he would be proud.”
Everyone is invited to attend the festival. For more information about it visit boosttheboro.org.
