Bladen County Commissioners met Monday evening for a regular monthly meeting and dealt with numerous items on the agenda.
Included in the Consent Agenda;
1)  A resolution in Memory of Benjamin Wayne Greene.
2) Numerous agreements related to DSS.
3) Forestry Service Agreement with the State of North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
4) Agreement for Clinical Affiliation with Bladen Community College.
5) Award timber bid for Bladen County Detention Center Tract to Gooden Land & Timber Company.
6) Approved an Emergency Medical Services Contract for FY 2015-16.
7) Approved a Water Rescue Contract for FY 2015-16.
And numerous others, many related to annual contracts by various county agencies.
Commissioners presented service awards to numerous staff members.
Chris Harrleson had even more agreements for the board to consider from the Bladen County Health Department.  He also requested business hours be changed back to their original time of 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Bladen County Animal Shelter, effective August 3, 2015.  The board approved the new hours. He advised the board that his department had received 24 car seats for youngsters with a grant from the State Fire Marshall and Governor’s Highway Safety Program.
Bradley Kinlaw ask the board to accept  a donation of a message board sign from Morehead City, NC.  Morehead City EMS asked for and received a message board for every county in the state.  His request was approved.
BC-Comm-meeting-7.20Sheriff McVicker ask commissioners to approve a bid with Performance Dodge of Clinton for 3 new Dodge Chargers and one Dodge Durango SUV.  McVicker stated in a letter to the board that he sought bids and the Clinton dealer offered the lowest price.  The Chargers were $23,749 each and the Dodge Durango was $29,168 or a total cost of $101,415.  Chairman Peterson asked if that was within the limits of their approved budget.  McVicker stated it was and the board approved.
Several Board Appointments were made.
Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee (2)  Richard Robinson and Larry Hayes were re-appointed.
Bladenboro Planning Board and Board of Adjustment: (2) Isaac Singletary and Russell Ruffin were re-appointed.
Juvenile Crime Prevention Council. (2) Chris Hunt and Livingston Lewis were appointed to the board.
Lumber River Workforce Development (2) Barbara Knight and Thomas Brooks
Southeastern Community & Family Services Board of Directors. (2) Wayne Edge and Michael Cogdell.
White Oak Fire Service District Committee (1) Steve Dunham.
County Manager Greg Martin updated the board of several issues including a calendar update and they entered into closed session.
