The 26th Annual Byron Gooden, Bladen We Care Golf Tournament is underway.
25 foursomes teed off Thursday morning at Vineyard Golf of White Lake.  Another 32 teams will tee it up Thursday afternoon.
The golf tournament is one of two fundraisers for Bladen We Care.  The first for 2015 was the Gala on Friday evening, April 17 and was a huge success.
57 golf teams are the second largest field in the 26 year history of the tournament.
Proceeds from both events are used to assist Bladen County residents who are “falling through the cracks in our medical care system.”
Bladen We Care has no paid staff.  Volunteers provide medical grants to those in need 52 weeks out of the year and assist others including Baptist Men and Bladen Crisis.
Mac Campbell, Jr., chairman of the 9 member board of directors welcome everyone this morning and thanked them for participating.
He then introduced and thanked Bill Augustine, owner of Vineyard Golf at White Lake and Bobby Davis who provided the rules for the tournaments.
There will be two tournaments, an AM and PM tournament with 3 flights in both.
Campbell paid tribute to Dr. Bruce Phillips, a charter member of Bladen We Care, who recently passed away.
