Pender closed the game with a 12-5 spurt to pull out a 51-48 Four County Conference boys basketball victory on Senior Night at East BladenFriday.

The Eagles carried a 39-37 lead into the final period and stretched their lead to 43-39, before the visiting Patriots fought back to take the victory.

Senior Farrell Murchison scored 11 of his game-high 15 points in the first half for East Bladen. Senior Monterro Graham finished with 12 points for the Eagles, and junior Jermaine Robinson followed with 6 points.

“The kids played hard,” said East Bladen Coach Ken Cross. “But we didn’t rebound, we didn’t shoot the ball well and we didn’t box out.”

Farrell Murchison tossed in 5 points in the opening period, and Robinson added 3 more, but the Patriots built a 14-10 lead.

Graham bombed the nets with a pair of 3-point shots in the second quarter, and Farrell Murchison pumped in 6 more points as the Eagles closed the gap to 31-30 at halftime.

Robinson nailed a 3-point shot in the third quarter, and Graham dropped in 4 points in the period as the Eagles rode a 9-6 rally to the 39-37 lead.

Shajuan Best topped the Pender scoring with 12 points.

The Eagles fall to 4-6 in the Four County and 9-10 on the season. East Bladen will travel to Rocky Point Trask on Tuesday night.

Seniors Farrell Murchison, Larrell Murchison, Matt Massengill and Monterro Graham were honored in Senior Night activities.
