Wallace-Rose Hill capitalized on a 30 free throw advantage at the foul line to defeat visiting West Bladen 64-55 in Four County Conference boys basketball action Wednesday night.

The Bulldogs made 23 of their 42 free throw attempts. West Bladen only shot 12 free throws and made 7 of them. The Knights were whistled for 25 fouls, and  Sayaun Dent and Jimmy Williams fouled out. The physical and aggressive Bulldogs were whistled for only 13 fouls in the game.

Freshman Keshawn Lewis, sophmore Shaquille Johnson and junior John Bowen nailed 3-point shots in the first quarter as the Knights took a 16-14 lead. Dent and senior Stefan McDonald dropped in a basket and a free throw each in the period.

Senior Johnnie Glaspie tossed in 6 points, and the Bulldogs made 6 of 8 free throws in the quarter to stay close.

Senior Alex Lisane drained a pair of 3-point shots and a pair of 2-point baskets  in the second period to spark a 22-11 Wallace surge. The Bulldogs connected on 8 of 12 foul shots in the period.

McDonald and Williams bombed in 3-point shots to keep the Knights within 36-27 at halftime.  Johnson worked the paint for 4 baskets in the third quarter as West Bladen whittled the Bulldog lead to 47-40.

Glaspie threw in a 3-point shot and another basket in the third period to keep Wallace on top.

McDonald fired in a 3-point shot, another basket and 2 free throws in the final quarter for West. Lewis contributed a pair of baskets for the Knights in the period.

The Bulldogs connected on 9 of 18 free throws in the final quarter to pull out the win. Glaspie hit 2 of 4 free throws and had 4 points in the quarter. Guard Ty Scarborough made 3 of 6 at the foulline and scored 5 points, and Tremaine Washington dropped in 2 baskets in the period.

Glaspie led all scorers with 20 points, Lisane finished with 14 points and Washington had 8 points.

McDonald topped the West Bladen scoring with 15 points, and Johnson followed with 11 points. Lewis and Dent tallied 7 points each, and Bowen added 6.

The Knights, now 5-4 in the league and 14-5 overall, will travel to Rocky Point Friday night to play league-leading Heide Trask.
