Clint Allen Collects 6 Hits in Coker Weekend Series

West Bladen grad Clint Allen racked up 6 hits in Coker College’s weekend series at Carson-Newman Friday and Saturday in Jefferson City, TN.

Allen batted 3-4 and drove in a run Friday, but the Cobras dropped a 12-4 decision. The Bladenboro native smacked a single to right-centerfield in the third inning and raked a single to leftfield in the fifth inning.

In the ninth inning, Allen beat out an infield hit that scored Scott Burnley with the third Coker run.

Coker won the first game of Saturday’s double-header 4-3.  Allen led off the fourth inning with a single to rightfield then laced a single to centerfield in the sixth to finish 2-4 at the plate.

Allen scored the only Cobra run in the second game that Carson-Newman won 6-1.  The junior outfielder hammered a double down the rightfield line and raced home on Colton Henthorne’s double.

The 6 for 11 weekend raised Allen’s batting average to .314 and his on-base percentage to .407. Allen has 16 hits in 18 games and is second on the team in stolen bases with 9.

The Cobras, now 19-13 on the season, will play at Claflin, SC, at 6 p.m. Wednesday
