Congressman Robert Pittenger HeadshotCongressman Robert Pittenger departs Charlotte today for a series of important national security/counter-terrorism meetings in the Middle East.

Over the next week, Congressman Pittenger will visit two Middle East countries, meet personally with two Heads of State, participate in seven additional national security/counter-terrorism meetings, discuss joint efforts to combat terrorism financing, and visit a refugee.

“Our Middle East allies are discouraged by the lack of American leadership in the fight against ISIS and radical terrorist organizations,” said Congressman Pittenger (NC-09).  “Despite President Obama’s misguided efforts, we cannot appease or apologize our way to a solution.  We must demonstrate leadership and work with our allies to defeat ISIS, al-Qaeda, and other terrorists.  This week, I’m going to listen to our allies, evaluate the situation on the ground, and discuss steps we can work together to cut off the flow of money to ISIS.”

Congressman Pittenger serves as Chairman of the Congressional Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare and Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Committee Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing.
